Alhaji Saheed Yusuff Adejare Alaran is a big wig in Oyo State politics. For a man who was recognized by President Muhammadu Buhari, you can be so sure that when a lay-man Oyo State indigene is asked to name notable politicians in Oyo state, he must have mentioned Alhaji Alaran—who is currently a running mate with senator Lanlehin for 2019 Oyo State governorship seat— twice in a list of ten before his attention draws to it.
Rome wasn’t actually built in a day, his life is a fulfillment of the sayings of the gray-haired and aged wisemen of the Yoruba kingdom: “Omo to ba ma je Ashamu, Ati Kekere loti ma se enu shamu shamu”, that is, during his childhood he was one of those bright kids that their teachers can beat their chest to attest a bright future.
Alhaji Saheed Yusuff Adejare Alaran who hails from Iseyin, Oyo State completed his primary and secondary level of education in his native town.
He gained admission into the University of Ilorin to obtain a First degree in Public Administration. Upon completion, Alaran proceeded to acquire his Masters degree in Business Administration ; industrial and Labour Relation; and political science all in the same University of Ilorin.
Despite the vast knowledge already acquired, Alaran got admitted into the University of Ibadan, where he bagged another Masters degree in Peace And Conflict Studies and he is currently running a PHD program in Peace and Strategic Studies.
Alaran was a career Civil Servant with the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission before he voluntarily disengaged in 2007 to face squarely his private Business Empire he had built.
His Business empire, Sayal Global Investment limited which deals in Automobile purchase and Sale, management consulting, training and development and host of other services witnessed a rapid growth upon taking full charge as the Chairman and managing director.
Everywhere he went, he was always appointed a leader. The leadership trait was so shiny that it didn’t take long for people to notice this rare gem.
No wonder, Alaran during his primary school days was appointed a timekeeper, while in secondary school he was chosen as the Assistant Senior Prefect. Even during his A’level days at Olivet, Oyo, he was appointed as the furniture prefect. During his stint in this small offices he showcased outstanding leadership style and a flair for ‘Service to humanity’. His characters and personality was what the people observed before they agreed that he is a man that should be in government.
August 2011, Iseyin populace beckoned at their son, Alaran, to serve as the caretaker chairman of his Local government, Iseyin Local Government until the expiration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi first term in office in 2015.
The people of Iseyin were pleased with the performance of Alhaji Saheed Adejare and again he was reappointed to serve again in his capacity as the caretaker chairman from April 2016 till November 2016.
After the expiration of his tenure in office he concentrated again on his business concern but however, this time around engaging in active Local Politicking.
He was equally appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as a board member of Nigeria University Teaching Hospital, Enugu but voluntarily disengaged October 2018 to focus as the running mate (deputy Governorship candidate) to Senator Sholagbade Olufemi Lanlehin, the gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State Governorship election.
If you like you can call him a sage but when this very interesting man is questioned on what he has achieved, he will give a sigh of relief, smile at you, sip his tea and factually say to you: Gentleman “we have very outstanding records and performance that is not easy to rubbish in the history of governance in Iseyin Local government and in the history of participating in the issue of governance in Oyo State”.
Among many other achievements, Alaran was able to ensure regular payment of staff salaries with other fringe benefits; Construction of the first poultry pent house for the local government; several boreholes across the Local government and Construction of first Practical Skill Acquisition Centre.
